The ZF 8HP50 is the second-generation 8-speed automatic transmission launched by German company ZF Friedrichshafen AG around 2014. As an upgraded model of the 8HP45, it has been optimized in terms of fuel economy, operational resistance and torque capacity.

Technical upgrades and improvements
Compared to the first generation 8HP45, 8HP50 has been optimized in multiple aspects:
Reduce operating resistance
Oil pump pressure reduction: The main oil circuit pressure is lowered from 5 Bar to 3.5 Bar, reducing the energy consumption of the oil pump.
Multi-disc separable clutch: The clutch is designed with multiple discs, which reduces the friction coefficient and enhances the heat dissipation efficiency.
2. Optimize gear ratio range
The gear ratio range has been expanded from 7.0 to 7.8, taking into account both the starting acceleration performance and the fuel efficiency during high-speed cruising.
3. New shock absorption damping
Equipped with a new shock absorption damping system, it effectively reduces vibrations and noises coming from the engine side.
4. Improvement in fuel economy
Official data shows that compared to 8HP45, 8HP50 can reduce fuel consumption by approximately 3%.
